These rich, dessert-inspired oats combine naturally sweet dates with a creamy, spiced toffee sauce for a breakfast that tastes indulgent yet uses simple, wholesome ingredients. Serve warm or chilled for a sweet-and-salty start to your day.
- Servings: 1
- Prep: 5 min
- Cook: 5 min
Ingredients
- 0.5 mug rolled oats
- 1 mug milk
- 2 piece date, chopped
- 1 dash ground cinnamon
- 1 pinch salt
- 1 Tbsp chia seed
- 1 Tbsp maple syrup
- 2 Tbsp nut butter
- 2 Tbsp maple syrup
- 1 splash milk
- 1 dash ground cinnamon
- 1 pinch salt
Instructions
- In a small bowl, stir together the nut butter, maple syrup, ground cinnamon and salt. Gradually whisk in splash of milk until the mixture reaches a soup-like consistency. Transfer any extra sauce to the fridge for later use as a fruit dip.
- Place rolled oats, milk, chopped dates, cinnamon, salt, chia or flax seeds and maple syrup in a saucepan over low heat. Stir continuously until the mixture becomes thick and creamy, about 4–5 minutes.
- For a chilled version, combine all oat ingredients in a container, seal and refrigerate overnight instead of cooking.
- Spoon the warmed (or chilled) oats into a bowl, garnish with extra chopped dates and drizzle generously with the prepared toffee sauce before serving.
